Positive Sound Massive
Recordings is proud to present, available on both CD and Double LP,
"If Yu Luv Luv, Show Ya Luv", a full length album, from the conscious
pen of Brooklyn's shining star Rocker-T. The album contains tracks
from "Time's Up" (PSM49010 LP/CD)
our 1997 compilation, remixed tracks from Rocker's Stubborn
Records 1998 release "Nicer by the Hour", as well as tracks
from the internationally acclaimed EP "Tru
Ganjaman" (PSM4901 EP/CD). The album features the former Skadanks
(Electra) front man on a wide range of well produced and original riddims.
This album spans roots to dancehall reggae, nyahbingi, hip hop, ska, and
even a little R & B, yet one thing is constant through out the whole album,
the message is in the music.
The album begins with
"Turn Yuh Face" a call for babylon to wake up and "face" the
music. Next we find Rocker's conscious anthem "Jah Soljah",
and the jump up dancehall version of his 1997 hit "Tru Ganjaman".
The hip hop vibe of "Talk a Talk" carries the warning "Ya
never here no talk from no real gun man..." and "Jah Everlasting"
conveys the singers' faith, that even in the darkest of days Jah
is by his side. "One Million Matches" is an instant roots
classic with Rocker claiming to have plenty of matches
to burn down babylon. The smooth R & B feel of "Jah is Real"
features Rocker singing about his devotion and conviction
to God. "Sweep Dem" is a hardcore dancehall lick
with the introspective chorus "I have to sweep dem, but first
I have to clean my heart...". "One More" has received airplay
on over 50 stations and carries a strong ska horn line with a
powerful message about "dem who sell the white rock". "Baggy
Pants", a new dancehall track bound for the dancehalls of
Jamaica, enforces the idea that "rasta don't wear tight jeans".
"Sesso Yes" continues the dancehall feel with a pro-green
sentiment. "Sensible Proposition" is another instant hit
from this summer's "Tru Ganjaman" EP. The chorus begs "legalize
the marijuana" and the song extolls the virtues of herb use. The
next tune, "Strong Arm", was one of Rockers' best received
songs at the many live performances over the past few years. "Just
to be Alive" gives thanks for life and features Rocker
switching between singer and DJ styles. The album ends with "Jah
is Luv", a 7 minute ballad, featuring Nyahbingi drumming and
an amazing electric guitar solo.
All and all, this album is
for everyone. It reaches out to young and old alike, and comes across
as a musical and spiritual journey for both the artist and listener. It
is intelligent and witty, raw and yet well produced. It is a must for
anyone who has a love for reggae and an eye on changing the future.
