"Mi Selecta" (PSM4903-2xLP/CD) is the label's first "Producer's Special" compilation and features tracks from many of the producers we have worked with over the past 8 years of making records. "Mi Selecta" puts the focus on the artist behind the scenes: The Producer. This record boasts just about as many different styles of music as you can cram on 74 minutes of a Compact Disc. As the title implies, "Mi Selecta" spans reggae to hip-hop, yet also spotlights jungle, drum and bass, and a pinch of ambient, acid jazz and breakbeat. It's a little something for everyone at the party. The album features tracks from Mix Master Mike: Turntable Terrorist from Beastie Boys and Invisibl Scratch Piklz, Coconut Peezer... a new incarnation from Dan the Automator; the producer behind Handsome Boy Modeling School and Dr. Octagon, Rocker-T.; vocalist and songwriter for Skadanks and Cannabis Cup Band, and Jamalski: MC with groups like BDP, Dee-lite, Brand New Heavies, just to name a few. This project also features many up and coming producers, as well as many guest vocalists (SF's New Dealers, and the East Bay's Strong Foundation, etc..) and musicians (Allen Whitman from the Mermen, and DJ Quest, etc...). As with many of PSM's past releases, this album is a hybrid of many different people's production styles and sounds, yet through the course of the whole album it feels, to the listener, as if all the cuts are meant to be embodied together on this ground-breaking PSM release.
