"Riddim Please"-
Various Artists, Dubs And Instrumentals
PSM4904- 2 X LP/CD
Release Date: February 20th, 2001 Featuring various Dub
and Instrumental tracks never before available, remixed and reworked
for today. Tracks include a few new PSM originals as well
as Instrumentals from our past 7 releases.
Positive Sound
Massive Recordings is proud to announce the release of it's
first dub and instrumental album titled aptly, "Riddim Please".
This, the label's first release of 2001, features instrumental
tracks from many of PSM's favorite albums. Included here,
for the first time, on this release, are instrumental tracks from
Nicodemus' "Dancehall
Giant" CD, our Various Artists compilation "Time's
Up", and Rocker-T.'s "If
Ya Luv Luv Show Yu Luv" CD. There are also brand new
tracks from the PSM "Riddim Factory" players, Jr.
Robby, and Gen-I-ration.
The music is a dubbed
out mix of Roots, Dancehall, Hip-hop, Trip Hop, and even some
Jungle inşuences on a few tracks. There is a heavy, melodic, bass
-driven feel, consistent with many of PSM's past releases.
This album again seems to push the envelope like our last full
length release, "Mi Selecta."
With this fusion of high production values, new instrumental music,
and a focus of the "Dub" element of reggae and hip hop, there
is a sense overall, that all of these tracks belong together.
"Riddim Please"
is a must for both "Dub Heads" and DJs alike. PSM has put together
a record that appeals to both the listener and the DJ/MC. PSM
wanted to make this a record that anyone could get into. The idea
was to make an album that an artist or an up and coming producer
for that matter, could use as a tool and at the same time gives
listeners a sonic tapestry that has been years in the making.
Fans who have purchased PSM's past product will be interested
in hearing and buying this 21st century "Dub" collection.
This album was tracked
in San Francisco, at Different Fur, Westside Chemical, Fog Town
Studios, and Pyramind, and then mixed and mastered by Stand
Out Selector and David "Hodge" Lodge, at Pyramind Sound
in San Francisco as well. The vinyl was mastered in Los Angeles
by David Cherpa at Better Quality Sound.
