Positive Sound Massive
Recordings is pleased to present the label's first compilation
release on CD, LP, and Cassette.
This album features many unreleased or
limited release singles recorded by PSM during a period spanning from
late 1993 through 1997. As the title implies, PSM has taken great time
and care in creating a release that would appeal to a wide spectrum of
the reggae buying public.
The riddims on this
project are produced and mixed by Stand
Out Selector, and the vocalists range from the roots and
culture "sing-jay" style of Ras Michael's "No Bow Down"
to the amazing vocal stylings of dancehall master Barrington
Levy on "Under 16". "Time's Up" also
features some wickedDJ tracks from Nicodemus
(on an unreleased version of "Boneman Connection"), Grandson
Demus, Jr. Robby (currently
with The New Dealers), Wookie J.,
and Jamalski; as well as some smooth Lover's Rock/DJ tunes
from RasKidus, Rocker-T.,
and Alex Duncan.
All in all, "Time's
Up" has embodied the elements of reggae vocals with the bass-driven,
eclectic mix of Positive Sound Massive's hybrid riddim
tracks. As with all of PSM's recordings, "Time's
Up" also features some of the San Francisco-Bay Area's
greatest musicians. Most of the tracks are produced on computer
and then re-tracked with live instrumentation. The basic tracks
for the album were recorded at Different Fur, Joey's
Garage, and PSM, and then mixed at Glue Factory
in San Francisco. It is a mix of some of reggae's classic artists
with a true turn of the century flavor. Music for the millenium!!!
